Biography

Alister is recent graduate from the University of Kent and Outreach Tutor supporting academy school children across Kent.

Locally Alister was a volunteer with St Johns Ambulance in Canterbury and volunteered delivering food parcels and medicine to vulnerable people who were isolating during the pandemic.

He was elected to Kent County Council in 2021 to represent Canterbury City North.

Alister sits on the Children’s, Young People and Education Committee, the Governance and Audit Committee and Policy and Resources Committee at Kent County Council.

Biography

Mel is a teacher in a school for young people with autism, a single mum, a musician, saxophonist and singer-songwriter who performs regularly. A twin; her sister was born with cerebral palsy, whilst she has 50% neuron-congenital hearing loss and wears a hearing aid.

Locally, Mel served as the local party’s Women’s Officer before running for council. She has been a school governor and Mental Health Act manager for a borough in London. She is describes herself as a ‘can do’ person who if something doesn’t seem right, doesn’t just accept it.

She was elected to Canterbury City Council in 2019 as a representative for St Stephens ward. She was further elected to be Kent County Councillor for Canterbury City South in 2021.

Mel sits on the Community Committee and Governance Committee at Canterbury City Council. 

Mel sits on the Environment and Transport Committee, the Growth, Economic Development and Communities Committee and the Superannuation Fund Committee at Kent County Council.
