Whitstable is sick and tired of badly planned road closures creating chaos on our roads and damaging local business. We, the undersigned, call on Kent County Council to:
1. Never simultaneously close more than one entrance to Whitstable from the Thanet Way – taking greater consideration for diversions residents will be expected to take
2. Publish maps of any significant closure to arterial roads including locations of temporary bus services and a phone number to report problems
3. Better promote closures of the High Street, working with local businesses to limit closures and carry out multiple works at once.
4. Regularly visit significant closures and levy penalties on businesses who close roads but do not have workers on site.
